02/08/11: HELP! CAN YOU HELP US TRACE THIS COACH?

We have had an email from Mr. Hugh Bishop who would like to track down - and hopefully purchase - former Capitol Coaches Bedford GTX622W. Hugh writes:

"I am trying to trace a coach that was parked in a yard off the Dock Road in Liverpool but was moved a few years ago. It is a Bedford with a Duple body, reg. number GTX 622W. It was new to Capitol Coaches (Cleverly) of Cwmbran South Wales. I was an apprentice, then a fully qualified mechanic for them back in the 80s. This is an unusual coach as it has slanted windows like the ones in Greyhound coaches in the states. I am interested in purchasing the coach and restoring it back to its original condition. I wondered if you knew of this coach as it was in the Liverpool area, or where to find out where it is today. I now live in Maghull, North Liverpool.

Thanks, Hugh Bishop"

With thanks to Bus Lists On The Web, this coach has a Bedford YNT chassis, no. LW452054, and Duple (C53F) body no. 117/2608. New in May 1981, if the vehicle still exists it celebrated its 30th birthday earlier this year. If you have any information that would help Hugh please let us know via the email address above and we will pass it on to him.

19/06/11: MAJOR SITE UPDATE

Apologies, it has been some time since I last got round to thoroughly updating the site. I think everything is now as it should be, but if you find anything that's still out-of-date, let me know.

19/06/11: SUPPORT THE "GIFTS FOR HEATHER" SPONSORED BUS RIDE!

From 15th to 31st July, Richard Stedall (Chairman of Buses Worldwide and a friend of your Webmaster) is undertaking a sponsored bus ride in aid of Oxfam in memory of his sister Heather who tragically died in hospital, aged just 30, in 2009. Richard and friends will be travelling from Land's End to John O'Groats and back again by service bus and are hoping to raise £5,000 in aid of Oxfam's programme to build school classrooms in Africa, as well as raise awareness of the travel possibilities offered by Britain's bus network.

On Monday July 18th, the itinerary takes the group through the heart of the MBC's area and MBC members are invited to come along and show their support to the riders (and make a donation too!) by joining any or all of the journeys shown below.

To find out more about Gifts For Heather, visit: www.giftsforheather.com.

To make an online donation visit the Virgin Money Giving site.
